| Cynthia Bowermaster began her violin studies in Southern California where her teachers
included Alice Schoenfeld, Eudice Shapiro, and Glenn Dicterow. She received her Bachelor and Master of Music
degrees in Violin Performance from the University of Southern California. A former member of the U.S.C. Graduate
String Quartet and the Galliard String Quartet, she performed and toured with both groups to such places as Mexico,
Guam, American Samoa and Saipan. She can be heard on the Galliard String Quartet's recording "Songs of Liliuokalani".
She was a member of the first violin section of the Honolulu Symphony for 12 years before moving to St. Louis in 1995.
Cynthia has participated in the Kapalua Music Festival, Kapalua, Maui; Strings in the Mountains, Steamboat Springs,
Colorado; and regularly performs with the Sun Valley Summer Symphony in Sun Valley, Idaho. She now performs with
many area ensembles including the St. Louis Chamber Orchestra and the American Kantorei, and has performed with the
St. Louis Symphony Orchestra as a substitute. She resides in Kirkwood with her husband, Tod, Third Horn of the
St. Louis Symphony, and their two children, Kathryn and Ryan.
